A blue and beautiful sea and a red torii, when these two meet, they create a very mysterious scenery.
This time we introduce 4 unique seaside Jinja (Shrines) creating an impressive view that you can never see at any other place but Japan.
1. Motonosumi Inari Shrine (元乃隅稲成神社)
An impressive view of red shrine gates stretching out in a row with the clear blue ocean and lush greenery in the background. Motonosumi Inari Shrine facing the Japan Sea in Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, is a spectacular sight of beautiful contrasting colors.
The most impressive part of the shrine is the 123 shrine gates that stand in a row stretching over 100m (328ft.)

2. Udo Jingu (鵜戸神宮)
Udo Shrine on the Udozaki headland is located in a cliff cave, facing toward the sea. The enshrined deity is Ugayafukiaezu-no-Mikoto, the father of Emperor Jimmu. Also known as a shrine to the god of marriage.
Location: Nichinan-shi Miyazaki pref.
3. Itsukushima Shrine (厳島神社)
The shrine has more than 1400 years of history, and is a registered World Heritage Site. The vermillion lacquered shrine, located at the beautiful Itsukushima, fits well with the Prussian blue sea, and the green of the virgin forest, recreating the elegance of the Heian era.

4. Aoshima Shrine (青島神社)
It is known also as a shrine for marriage. There is a beautiful statue of Benzaiten, one of Hyuga's seven lucky gods, holding a biwa.
The deities enshrined here are Hikohohodemi no mikoto (also known as Yamasachihiko), Toyotama-hime (Princess Toyotama, wife of Yamasachihiko, daughter of the god of the sea) and Shiotsuchi-no-Okina (old man of the the sea).
